the theme of my birthday party was homecoming 1964. it probably could have also been called "meet hillary's other friends 2004." it went really well. my friends met my other friends, and they all think the other friends are really cool. i'm so glad. i'm always a little nervous letting different parts of my world mix together, but it turned out very well.
i pulled the birthday girl routine (that's what andrew calls it) and got my picture taken with people numerous times. that's new. normally, i just stay behind the camera. yes, for once, i just have a bunch of snapshots. i'm glad people dressed for the theme. so, in this entry, you will see the resurgence of the obnoxious gold dress, as well as other obnxious clothing choices. in a word:
amazing.

trip to madison

i should have posted this before my dress pictures. these pictures are from last weekend when i went to madison, indiana, with matt and marlene. it was really relaxing, and all of us (matt, marlene, her family, and i) played karaoke revolution for about five hours. it was great. we also painted pottery. i made a bowl with an eye in the center. it's creepy, and i can't wait to have it. it's so cool. hopefully it will still be cool after it's been fired.
again, the bulk of my pictures are of the person i know the best of the group. this time that person was matt. soon, though, everyone i know will have been in at least one photoshoot. that's the goal, anyhow.

i remember going to play the quarter game late in my last semester at the academy. the den had installed it, and though i can't recall who i found it with, i roped many friends into playing it. one night, sarah and i took some quarters to play so we could distract ourselves from whatever would have been plaguing us that particular day. we won so many quarters back.
it was a nice way to pay less for a jones every so often. it was a gamble, but it normally paid off. even if we didn't make back double so both people could have a soda, the one we could buy would be shared with friends.

i think today will be a sampling of boredom-inspired self-portraiture. i think it's a good stage to go through to improve your photography. you learn what light works for specific situations and subjects. and if it turns out well, you have a few nice shots of yourself.

i'm losing track of where the time is going. i didn't think it was that long ago that i last posted pictures here, but it's been twenty days. all of this working is warping my mind. anyway, today's pictures are brought to you by this past weekend. my roommate and i tried on our halloween costumes. i like mine so much that i want to actually cut my hair the way it's shown above. we'll see.
